Home run power helps Hebron route Calhoun

April 4, 2014

PHEBA — The Hebron Christian Eagles are now 5-0 in district play and picked up a 13-2 road division win behind four long balls from the Hebron bats. Channing Tapley, Brandon England, Landon Hill and Payton Griffin all earned home runs to propel the Eagles to the victory.
“The 13 hits over five innings was a nice offensive performance, but to have the four home runs was outstanding,” Hebron Head Coach Cass Tapley said. “You just don’t see a lot of the home runs anymore with the BBCOR bats.  With three in the first two innings and three being hit by sophomores it was just our day. That’s five different players that have hit one out this year, and we have a couple more that are getting close.”
Hebron jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first on a two-run home run by Channing Tapley that scored Drew Myatt, who reached base on an error. In the second inning, back-to-back home runs by England and Griffin, who also scored Jessie Moore, put the Eagles up 5-0.
