Residents traveling down Highway 45 North the past couple weeks may have noticed a sign next to the Hampton Inn advertising a new Holiday Inn Express coming to town.
Holiday Inn hotels are managed by CDA Hospitality out of Jackson, and CDA Chief Operations Officer Chris DeCamp said the plan for the new hotel is on the table, but as of Friday there was no timeline for construction.
“There are a lot of things that have to come together in the next three-to-six months, but we do plan on building a new Holiday Inn Express there in the future,” DeCamp said. “It would be a 70-room hotel with a pool and fitness center.”
Holiday Inn Express is a smaller version of the traditional Holiday Inn, which caters to business travelers and short-term stays, according to the Intercontinental Hotels Group website.
DeCamp said CDA, which also manages Hampton Inn, purchased rights to the franchise in the area in hopes that the Yokohama Tire plant would bring more hotel business to the area.
