Hodges, Allen Wedding
In the presence of the Lord, family and friends, Vakesha Hodges and Nathan Allen were united in Holy matrimony, on Saturday June 5, 2010 at 4â€™clock in the afternoon at Third Mount Olive M.B. Church in West Point, Miss.
The couple exchanged vows during the double ring ceremony with Pastor Leonardo Dismukes as the officiating minister.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Hodges of West Point. She is the granddaughter of Ms. Ora Bell of West Point and the late James and Jessie Collins. Paternal grandparents are the late Mr. J. B. and Rosie Lee Hodges.
The bride was escorted to the alter by her father and given in marriage by both parents
She was beautifully adorned in a one shouldered white Organza corseted gown with a beaded metallic bodice and a chapel length train from Davidâ€™s Bridal. The brideâ€™s gown was customized by Mrs. Minnie Weeks of West Point. Her finger tipped veil was detailed with Swarovski Crystals. Accessories include matching tiara, earrings and bracelet. The bridal bouquet was a lovely arrangement of fresh tangerine and white roses in a rhinestone holder.
Temeka Jefferson of West Point, Miss., served as Maid of Honor
Bridesmaids were Erika Jackson of Lawrenceville Ga., Tia Dello-Ianco of Las Vegas, N.V., Kawana Doss of Dallas, Texas and Carisha Clinton of Greenville, Miss. They each wore a Tangerine one shouldered gowns with a soft Chiffon top with a beautiful draped long satin skirt and beaded waistline. They each wore dyed to match satin platform sandal with rhinestone details
Junior bridesmaids were: Allen, daughter of the groom, of West Point, Miss., Miesha Bell of Riverdale, Ga., Syreatha Terry of Columbus, Miss., and Chastity Quaves of Gautier, Miss. They each wore clover green one shoulder two piece gowns with long A line skirts and dyed to match satin platform sandals with rhinestone details. Both bridesmaids and junior bridesmaids wore matching bracelets and earrings and carried a smaller replica of the brideâ€™s bouquet of live Tangerine and White roses, which were designed by the Ivy Cottage of Columbus.
Junior Bride was Anisha Hodges, daughter of the bride.
Flower girl was little Alyssa Carr of Starkville, Miss., and little Trinity Eacholes serves as the bell ringer.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Felix Jenkins of Starkville, Miss. He is the grandson of the late Mark and Gertrude Allen.
Fredrick Collier of Hammond LA, brother of the groom, served as best man. Groomsmen were Chris Reese, Sammy Reese and Tony Allen all of Starkville, Miss., and Arthur Love of Crawford, Miss.
The groom and groomsmen wore tuxedos from the House of Tux
Prior to lighting the unity candle the couple bowed for prayer and were served Holy Communion by the pastor. Special music was provided by Saxophonist Simeon Weathersby of Columbus, Miss., and soloist Corrine Everson of West Point, Miss.
Concluding the ceremony from the steps of the church the bride and groom alone with their parents released a total of twelve white doves symbolizing help from the Holy Spirit and the past, present and future prayers of their loved ones for good success in their marriage.
Following the wedding ceremony the wedded couple was taken by horse drawn carriage to the reception which was hosted by the brideâ€™s parents at the West Point Civic Center. The wedding party arrived via Leoâ€™s Limos. The civic center was transformed into a venue of grander by Reverend J.W. Leech of Mr. Jâ€™s designs.
A host of family alone with local and out of town guest enjoyed a social hour prior to the arrival of the wedding party with refreshments and music by Simeon Weathersby and band Muzik n Action
After the arrival of the wedding party, guest were served an elegant dinner of smoked beef brisket, roasted pork loin, and roasted chicken along with an assortment of vegetable and fruit.
The brideâ€™s cake was white butter cream, four tiers high with neapolitan flavored layers that was accented with a Swarovski Crystal cake topper. The cake and dinner was prepared by Shirley White Catering
The Grooms cake was of camouflage design a hunterâ€™s dream with strawberry flavored layers designed by The Cake Box of Starkville.
Ushers were Derrick Hodges, brother of the bride and Maurice Bell the brideâ€™s cousin.
Hostesses were Beyonka Morton and Roxanne Wright of West point, and DeEra and DeShara Lewis of Riverdale, Ga.
After dinner entertainment was provided by Anson Bryan of Paradise Production of Cordova, Tenn.
Videographer and photography was provided Charlie Young of West Point, Miss.
The wedding was coordinated by Lori Jamison of Elegant Weddings of Columbus, Miss.
The couple honeymooned in Las Vegas and now resides in West Point, Miss. The bride in employed by Mississippi Department of Human Services in Macon, Miss., and the groom is employed by Baldor Electric in Columbus, Miss.
On the eve of the wedding the groom entertained with a rehearsal supper at the brideâ€™s home, the wedding party and guest were served a buffet styled supper that was catered by the Lil Dooeys of Columbus, Miss.
