Highway 50 Crash Leaves Two With Moderate Injuries

May 4, 2011

59-year-old Walter Quinn of West Point is in stable condition after his vehicle collided with another vehicle around noon Tuesday on Highway 50 West in Clay County.
Quinn was traveling east bound on Highway 50 in a 2004 red Chevrolet Trailblazer when his vehicle crashed into a 2005 silver Nissan Altima driven by 36-year-old Pamela Rushing of North Carolina, who was driving west bound.
Quinn and Rushing were taken to Baptist Memorial Hospital in Columbus, and officials say both have moderate injuries.
The Mississippi Highway Patrol is still investigating what caused the accident that produced major damage to both vehicles but believes Tuesday's rain may have contributed to it. No one else was in the vehicles with Quinn or Rushing, and no other vehicles were involved.
