January 19, 2013

Hershey Emiline Quinn Turnage age 86, died Thursday, January 17, 2013, at North Mississippi Medical Center in West Point.
She was born April 12, 1926, to Hollis Lee Quinn and Leota Thompson Quinn in Old Hebron.
Hershey Turnage had a wonderful and busy life. She grew up on a farm in a time when everyone looked out for their friends and neighbors. Having grown up during the depression she was able to share stories with her children. She married her high school sweetheart, John Neil Turnage in 1947. She worked as a registered nurse while her husband attended medical school. At this time their daughters Susan and Laurie were born. After moving to Aberdeen, she helped her husband begin his medical practice next to Big Star and also an office in Hamilton. She worked alongside him and soon after welcomed Emily, Janet and Neil. She always set a wonderful Christian example for all of her children. She was instrumental in establishing the girls softball league, Girl Scouts and the pink ladies at the hospital in Aberdeen. She was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed help in her beloved hometown. She loved her church, St. Mark Methodist, always interested in all her church friends and their families. She had many dear friends and they will miss her almost as much as her loving family.
