Henry Curtis Townsend

Henry Curtis Townsend, age 73 , passed away Saturday, May 17, 2014, in his home following an extended illness.
He was the fourth of eight children born to the union of the late Albert and Odessa Bell Townsend March 17, 1941.
He is preceded in death by his eldest sister, Mildred Townsend Lowery; three brothers – in – law: Shirley Wardell Lowery, Alonzo P. Jackson, and John Mason (Big Joe.)
He was a dedicated and loyal member of Northside Christian Church. He served as a Deacon, Superintendent of Sunday School, Sunday School teacher, Bible Study Instructor, a member of District 4 Convention, Mississippi Christian Missionary Convention, Trustee Board Member, Chairman of the Deacon Board, and Christian Education Director. He had a genuine passion and love for Northside Christian Church. He made sure the doors were always opened and closed. He will be forever missed and loved at Northside.
He was united in Holy Matrimony to Lillie Mae Mason July 8, 1961. To this union five children were born. He was a dedicated family man. He supported his family. He was employed at Bryan Foods for 39 years and retired as a supervisor.
He leaves to cherish his loving memory: his wife of 52 years, Lillie Mae Mason Townsend; four sons: Henry Curtis Townsend Jr. (Geraldine), of Columbus, Kenneth Earl Townsend (Irish) of Jackson, Mark Anthony Townsend and Eric Lamont Townsend (Erica) both of Va.; one daughter. Bridgit Denese Webb of West Point; eight grandchildren: Kimberly, Aaron, Marcus, Bianca, Jazmen, Chaya, Jada, and Justin; two great - great grandchildren: Aaliyah and Erin; three sisters: Fannie Mae Dodd of Indianapolis, Ind., Margaret Shelton (Theodore) of West Point, and Anita Jackson of Shreveport, La.; five brothers: Rev. Albert Townsend, Jr.(Mildred) of Indianapolis, Ind., Calvin Townsend (Betty) of West Point, Arcelious Townsend (Anita) of Greenville, Kenneth Jones and Darnell Jones (Michelle) of West Point; three brothers – in – law: Robert Mason (Erma) of Chicago, Ill., Jamel El-Amin (Rosaland) of Birmingham, Ala., and Frank Mason (Sallie) of Ariz.; and one sister-in-law, Betty Mason of Chicago, Ill.
He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services are Saturday, May 24, 2014 at 11a.m. at Northside Christian Church with Rev. Orlando Richmond, Sr., officiating.
Visitation and wake are Friday May 23, 2014, at Northside Christian Church from 4 - 7 p.m.
Carter Funeral Home of West Point is in charge of arrangements.
