PHEBA — The Hebron Christian Academy Eagles won their final game of the regular season Friday night over the Kemper Academy Rams, clinching the No. 1 seed in the north heading into the 3-A playoffs.
HCS started off strong in the bottom of the first with consecutive singles from Brandon England, Collin Moore and Drew Myatt. Clay Faulkner and Payton Griffin would also add to the first inning hit total that put Hebron up 4-0 going into the bottom of the first. Myatt would then strike out the side, and the game was never in doubt. HCS scored three more in the second, five in the third and four in the fourth to put the game away via the mercy rule. Kemper scored two in the bottom of the fourth but never threatened.
"Our bats came out hot from the first pitch, so I credit our guys because they never took their foot off the gas,” Coach Cass Tapley said. “It was a big game, and our guys took care of business.”
