Hebron to play important district games this weekend

January 10, 2013

The Lady Eagles of Hebron Christian are coming off their first MAIS district 3-A victory over Central Academy of Macon on Tuesday night. The 42-38 win has brought the Lady Eagles to a 1-3 district record and allows for Hebron to enter the second half of the district schedule with a little more confidence.
Tonight’s district contest against Winona Christian will be a tough game for the Lady Eagles to continue their momentum. Hebron Christian hosted the Lady Stars on November 29 in Pheba and it was a game the Lady Eagles may want to forget. Winona outplayed Hebron and defeated the young Lady Eagles 56-28.
In the last match-up, Rebekah Joy Falkner had a highlight performance putting in 22 points against Winona. Falkner will receive more help tonight from Holly Hudson, Brooke Griffin, Subrina Oswalt, and Victoria Ferguson as these Lady Eagles are starting to play some of their best basketball so far this season.
The Lady Eagles will travel to Winona Christian for the game and should be an entertaining contest. The game is set to tip-off ten minutes after the junior high boys’ game.
Hebron Christian remain perfect in District 3-A
By Will Nation
The Eagles had a cakewalk Tuesday night taking on Central Academy of Macon as Hebron Christian defeated the Vikings 59-33. The great margin of victory allowed for everybody on head coach Gary Vaughn’s team to pick up valuable varsity minutes. This victory over Central Academy has brought the Eagles to a perfect 4-0 record in district play.
Hebron will travel west on I-82 and take on the Winona Christian Stars tonight, the very team which started the district 3-A season for the Eagles. It took more than regulation to decide the district game between the two clubs. Hebron walked away with an overtime victory 54-52 in Pheba back on November 29.
Tonight’s game will be the final road game in district play for the Eagles and a very important one. Winona will be a demanding game for the whole Hebron team and will call for good play from the starting five and players off the bench. In the November 30 contest, Troy Arnold and Collin Moore both contributed a lot from the bench helping the Eagles pick up the win.
The game will be played at Winona Christian in Winona. Tip-off is set for ten minutes after the finish of the Lady Eagles and Lady Stars game.
