PHEBA — Behind a positive performance on the mound, Hebron Christian Eagles (2-0; 1-0 District 3-A) grabbed a 9-5 decision over the Calhoun Cougars in a MAIS District 3-A baseball game at Hebron Christian School.
The Eagles outhit the Cougars (11-1) and kept the base path busy, scoring at least one run during five of the seven innings of play. Hebron’s pitching staff held Calhoun to only one hit in seven innings.
“I guess 11 hits on a cold, damp night is OK this early in the season — most were real good shots,” Hebron Coach Cass Tapley said. “We still had a few too many at bats that just weren’t good. It is early and our hitting will get better.”
