MACON — West Point did not have an ample time to celebrate its tight, hard-fought 74-66 victory over a talented Tupelo Golden Wave team on Friday night.
The Green Wave (10-1) made a quick 16-hour turnaround and 32-mile trip south to Noxubee County High School as they defeated the Quitman Panthers, 72-49, Saturday at the Coleman-Triplett Classic.
“Quitman was a big, athletic team,” West Point Head Coach Brad Cox said. “We were able to take their defensive pressure and make it an advantage for us.
“We talked before the game that you have to be able to play back-to-back and play well,” Cox added. “We had to play more guys today, and the players that came off the bench did well. We had no problem from our bench.”
