The West Point Green Wave (9-1; 6-0) football team can smell repeat. If they win on the road, at Hernando, this Friday night, they will have repeated one more aspect from the 2009 season.
Last Friday night’s victory over the Clarksdale Wildcats gave the Green Wave the Region I crown. A win at Hernando will give the Green Wave the exact same regular season record as last year.
West Point will be facing a very good Tigers team, which comes into the game with an overall 7-4 record and a 4-2 district mark.
The Green Wave are undefeated in district play so far.
While the Green Wave ride a seven-game winning streak, the Tigers are on a three game surge, which includes wins over Gentry and New Hope, the latter a team that was battling for the district championship up until last week.
The only district losses came against Lake Cormorant and Oxford.
Kickoff for Friday night will be at 7 p.m.
