Green Wave hits ground running

July 30, 2010

The West Point Green Wave football squad had a good Spring, and when they left in May, they were already ready for summer.
Now summer is here, and the team hit the field for the first time on Monday morning for what was a good start to the week.
“We had a good day,” said West Point head coach Chris Chambless. “We worked on a little of everything.”
The players were on the field a little before 8 a.m. and they were done at around mid-morning.
Chambless says the team worked on a lot of technique and conditioning.
“There’s only so much we can do without the shoulder pads,” Chambless said, adding that the team will be allowed to go into full gear on Thursday.
Chambless says that his coaching staff will put an emphasis on special teams later in the week, but execution on offense and defense is one of the main priorities.
“We’re going to try and get better everyday,” he said. “We’re going to work on the fundamentals of football.”
West Point starts the season at home against Shannon on August 20.
