Green Wave dedicate football playoffs to the late Rachel Free

November 15, 2012

The West Point Athletic Department has officially dedicated West Point’s Football Playoffs to the late Rachel Free.
Mrs. Free passed away last Thursday, November 8, before the Wave’s opening round game against the Canton Tigers. Mrs. Free worked for the West Point School District for forty years and was an avid Green Wave fan throughout her career in West Point.
“We know she is still watching the Green Wave in the best seat in the house from above,” said Head Coach Chris Chambless on the passing of Mrs. Free.
The Green Wave have one of the biggest and most loyal fan bases in the state. West Point fans always pack the stands at home and away games. People like Mrs. Free are the very epitome of what makes West Point football the greatest program in the state along with the action on the field.
“It is a blessing to have fans like her [Mrs. Free],” commented Coach Chambless, “we always play for our fans every Friday night and want to win every game for them.”
