Girl Scouts celebrate with proclamation

March 12, 2013

City Hall representative Justin Estes presents the Girl Scouts Heart of the South of Clay County with a proclamation announcing this week as National Girl Scouts Week. The Girl Scouts had their 101 birthday, March 12. The scouts cleaned the hut behind Central School, which was generously made available to the girl scouts for their meetings by the West Point School District. After cleaning, the girls made crafts and had cupcakes to celebrate 101 years of Girl Scouting. If you missed out last month, Girl Scout cookies are still available. If you would like to purchase cookies and support your local Girl Scouts, call 494-5290. Pictured are, Justin Estes, Emilie Hutcheson, Georgia McGee, Alexus Shipmore, Arlene Patrick, Hannah Buffington, McKara McKinney and Lacey White.
Above, Emilie Hutcheson, Girl Scout representative from the Tupelo branch, shows the girls how to braid a necklace with the Girl Scout Emblem.
