Friday Night Jams starts spring slate this week

March 4, 2013

Hosted by the West Point/Clay County Arts Council, Friday Night Jams will start this Friday night, March 8th. The jam session will be from 7-9:30pm at the Parks and Recreation Building in Marshall Park.
Friday Night Jams are open to everyone, but keep in mind this is an informal playing event with no preset program or tune list. And the sessions will be family-friendly events, where no smoking or alcohol is allowed, but people are welcome to bring refreshments to share.
Musicians are asked to bring their own instruments, and the more variety, the better. Guitars of all kinds, fiddles, mandolins, banjos, horns, dulcimers: the sky is the limit on what musical instruments are welcome. A sound and a karaoke system will be available on site.
“In order to get the Jam organized, we need for interested musicians to contact us and let us know that you will participate,” said organizer Marion Johnson. Anyone wishing to join in the music-making and in getting involved with this series of Friday Night Jams please call either Marion Johnson at 275-3232, or Kathy Dyess at 494-5678, or email
