Four store clerks were arrested by the Clay County Sheriff’s Department Wednesday night for selling alcohol to minors.

Samer Mohammed Aqlan, Ammar Faisal Alammari, Kalynn Nicole Clardy and Glenda Dean were booked at the Clay County Jail after 10 p.m. on Wednesday night. All four have been released.

Clay County Sheriff Eddie Scott said deputies and Alcohol Beverage Control agents began the operation around 8:30 p.m.

Scott said those arrested either didn’t ask for identification or knowingly sold to underage customers.

“We want to send a message that we’re aware of what’s going on,” Scott said. “Don’t sell to minors, or you’ll get busted.”

Scott said the operation was in response to several complaints the department has received recently about store clerks selling alcohol to minors.

“It’s been put on our radar, and we are going to continue monitoring these stores,” he said.
