April 1, 2014

Special to Daily Times Leader

An Oktibbeha County Sheriff's Department investigation is ongoing to determine what caused an early Sunday morning nightclub shooting that injured five people.
OCSD Commander Brett Watson said deputes responded to a shooting incident at Club Rock on Rockhill Road, north of Starkville, at 2:22 a.m. Sunday. He said five victims were injured, one critically, in the shooting, which occurred in the night club's parking lot.
OCSD would not identify the victims injured in Sunday's shooting.
Watson said OCH Regional Medical Center responded to the call, but the victims were taken to area hospitals in personal vehicles. He said four of the victims were taken to OCH Regional Medical Center and another went to Baptist Memorial Hospital in Columbus.
The critically-injured victim was airlifted from OCH to University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson.
Sheriff Steve Gladney said his department had not yet determined a motive for the shooting and has not made an arrest on the matter.
Gladney encouraged anyone with information on the incident to contact OCSD at 662-323-2421 or Golden Triangle Crime Stoppers at 1-800-530-7151.
