Antique collectors have something new to look forward to in West Point this weekend.
Beginning 9 a.m. to 5 p.m Thursday through Saturday, four local antique dealers â Annabelleâs, Sunny Side, Maw Mawâs Treasures and Bits-N-Pieces will host the first ever Egg-stravaganza spring open house event featuring refreshments and additional discounts on merchandise.
According to Martha Allen Wooten, event coordinator and marketing specialist for Community Counseling Services â which owns Sunny Side Antiques â the event is designed to bring additional faces into West Point during sister cities celebrations in the Golden Triangle this weekend. Columbus will host its annual Pilgrimage, while Starkville hosts Super Bulldog Weekend.
âWe thought about hosting a spring open house (at Sunny Side), and I thought, âWhy not partner with our other dealers to draw more people in and have more fun?ââ Wooten said. âWeâve got so many great shops in West Point, and itâs a fun opportunity to partner with other businesses. Everyone needs a business booster. ⊠Thereâs big things going on all over the Golden Triangle, and Iâm so proud to have something going on in West Point. We canât be the odd city out, we should have something big going on downtown.â
Among the activities shops have planned will be an Easter egg hunt of sorts. Connie Hudson, owner of Bits-N-Pieces said each store will have a basket of plastic eggs near checkout areas. Inside each egg is an additional discount on the customerâs purchase.
