On Thursday, Chris Chambless announced to the West Point Rotary Club that Casey Finch, a West Point native, has been selected as the next West Point Lady Wave softball head coach. Pending state teaching certification and West Point School Board approval, Finch would be the fifth head coach in three years for the program.
“She is a West Point native and a coach with collegiate experience,” Chambless said. “I hope she will be able to create more participation. With the turnover we have had with softball coaching position, it would be good to have more consistency.”
Finch said she put her request for teacher certification in on June 23. The WPSD was not able to be contacted as of press time.
“I am excited for the possibility to come hometown and coach softball,” Finch said. “It is a great opportunity, pending state certification and board approval.”
Finch, a 2004 graduate of Oak Hill Academy, was an assistant coach for four seasons at EMCC. While as a full-time assistant to former Lady Lion head coach Kate Neely, Finch helped lead EMCC to four consecutive Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges (MACJC) tournaments.
