Latwanna Roby, 28, of Brooksville, pleaded guilty to manslaughter for her involvement in the Oct. 28, 2012, homicide of West Point man Marcus L. Payne during the first day of the July Clay County Circuit Court term Monday.
Judge Lee Howard sentenced Roby to 20 years in the Mississippi Department of Corrections, with the possibility of parole after 10 years.
Roby was the third and final participant in Payne’s murder to go before the court. According to the incident report, she and cousin, Shunbrica, and sister, Natisha Roby, beat and stabbed Payne following an altercation at the Stop One Deli on the corner of North Division and Bugg streets in West Point.
Payne was taken to North Mississippi Medical Center in West Point, then NMMC in Tupelo, where he died of a stab wound to the chest, according to the incident report.
