Evelyn Lois Searcy

Evelyn Lois Searcy, 79, of Jacksonville, Fla., and formerly of Whitier, passed away on Tuesday, March 20, 2012.
She was the daughter of the late Thomas Jasper Carter and Elvie Lois Henderson. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Hilton B. Searcy.
Mrs. Searcy is survived by a daughter, Kathy M. Searcy and son-in-law John Hartman of Jacksonville, Fla.; by a son and daugher-in-law, Don and Marilyn Searcy of West Point; by a son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Diana Searcy of Thomasville, Ga.; by five grandchildren: Sherrie Weeks, Christopher Newsom, Kimberly Newsom Howell, Jon Michael Searcy, and Megan Searcy; and by five great-grandchildren: Alex Newsom, Christopher Weeks Jr., Desirae Weeks, Carter Newsom and Carsym Newsome.
Mrs. Searcy was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and loved spending time with her family.
Graveside services for Evelyn Searcy will be Sunday, March 25, 2012 at 2 p.m. at Gunter Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Bryson City Funeral Home on Saturday from 6 – 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to PAWS, P.O.
