Elizabeth Lawshe Miller
Elizabeth Lawshe Miller, age 89, passed away Friday, Dec. 2, 2011, at North Mississippi Medical Center in West Point. Elizabeth Lawshe Miller was born March 12, 1922, in Water Valley, to the late Robert Burnie and Nina Edgar Lawshe. After graduating from Water Valley High School and Mississippi State College for Women, she taught home economics at Hickory Flat High School and later served as Home Demonstration Agent in Clay County for the Mississippi Extension Service.
Her husband, Jack McDowell Miller preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her brother John Robert Lawshe,
Survivors include her son, Carl Robert Miller of West Point; and her daughter and son-in-law Gail and Danny Foote of Dalton, Ga.; two grandchildren: Cody and Carson Miller of West Point, two sisters-in-law: Kathleen M. Jaco of Dalton, Ga., and Frances O. Lawshe of Oxford; four nieces: Leslie L. Rucker of Houston, Texas, Laura L. Evans of Oxford, Joyce M. Robertson of Brandon, and Jane M. Allison of Shreveport, La.; and numerous cousins.
Mrs. Miller was an active member of The First United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Marcella Joiner Circle and the Wesley-Wasson Sunday School Class.
Funeral services are today, Sunday, Dec. 4, 2011, at 3 p.m. at Calvert Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Jeff Shannon officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery in West Point. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is in charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers are Cody Miller, Carson Miller, Danny Foote, Boyd Robertson, Dr. Jeff Evans and Dr. Rayford Edgar.
Honorary pallbearers are Dr. John Cox, Andy Williams, Ray Bryant, Reverend Don Bishop
Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 293, West Point, MS 39773 or to the charity of the donorâ€™s choice.
Visitation is Sunday, from 1 - 3 p.m. at Calvert Funeral Home.
