The Hebron Christian Eagles boys hoops team is tough. With their only district loss of the season coming to Immanuel, the Eagles have built a strong 8-3 record going into the second half of the season.
The Eagles said going into the season that they would have an offense built around seniors Carlton Clay and Chad Smith.
Clay and Smith have not disappointed anyone so far this season, but there is more to this team than those two guys.
When opponents have double-teamed Clay on the inside, the other Eagle players have been able to step up and provide a solid offense on the outside, which has led to their eight wins early on.
The Eagles got off to a good start against Starkville Christian in the season’s first game.
By the time district play started, Clay and the offense were fine tuned, and they started out with a win over Winona.
They then beat Calhoun, Central and Kemper before falling to the Rams on December 10.
At one point, Clay had put up 40 points in two straight games, and he scored 100 in three total games.
The Eagles will return on Monday to play in the Immanuel Tournament, but they will not be back home until January 4, when the Eagles will take on Winston Academy.
