The Hebron Christian Eagles (1-6; 0-1) are still alive in the playoff hunt. They are going to have to find a way to win against Immanuel (3-5; 0-1) this week if they are going to remain alive.
Hopeful of getting their last two conference wins, the Eagles will be facing a Rams team that has won two of its last three.
“Immanuel is very improved,” said Hebron head coach Gregg Watkins. “They’ve got three wins now, and they have a lot of confidence.”
The Rams have three victories, but they find themselves, coming into this game, in the same spot as the Eagles. They are in desperate need of the win to have a chance to get into November football.
If Hebron can win on Friday, they’ll take a break from conference play to take on Calhoun, before wrapping the season up with a conference match at home against Winona.
“Our guys know the importance of this game,” Watkins said. “They are going to have to come out and play a lot better than they have played the last three weeks.”
Last Friday, Hebron dropped a non-league game to Carroll, 47-6. This week, Watkins says that they will be trying to improve on coverage.
Speaking of the Carroll game, Watkins said. “we had assignments on defense, and we blew them the whole first half. We did a lot better in the second half though.”
“The things we are going over are things they are going to have to carry into the game with them,”’ Watkins added.
Dealing with numerous early-season injuries, Watkins says that his crew is pretty healthy going into the last three weeks of the season.
Those healthy players will be looking to even the district record up on Friday.
