New Year’s eve quickly turned traumatic for one West Point family, when an allegedly impaired driver struck a home on North Division Street.
According to police reports, West Point Police Department officers responded to the home at about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday and discovered Latterishurn Robinson, 25, of 2220 Dr. Sears Road in West Point injured in his vehicle on scene. A preliminary investigation revealed that Robinson was speeding south on Division Street when he reportedly lost control of his vehicle and struck a utility pole. The car left the road and crashed into the residence, as well as another vehicle parked in the driveway. The vehicle then spun back with enough force to strike the home a second time. The make and model of Robinson’s car could not be immediately determined due to the extent of the damage to the vehicle.
According to a statement issued by WPPD, both the home and vehicles suffered “heavy damage.”
