Doyle E. Brooks Sr., age 72, passed away, Friday, March 18, 2011 North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, Miss..
Doyle E. Brooks Sr., was born Dec. 19, 1938, in the Sparta Community of Chickasaw County to the late Lillie Mae Wheeler and Lonnie Brooks and Doyle E. Brooks, Sr. He worked in maintenance for Babcock & Wilcox Company for 33 years. and was a member of Gattman First Baptist Church. He was a member of West Point Masonic Lodge #40 F & AM and the Hamasa Shrine Temple of Meridian. He was a Veteran of U. S. Navy serving during the Korean War. Doyle Edward Brooks Sr. married Mary Carole Reid Johnson on June 3, 1989, in Gattman, Miss.
Funeral services were Sunday, March 20, 2011, at 4:30 p.m. from Calvert Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jackie Pate officiating and assisted by Bro. Roy McHenry. Burial followed in Greenwood Cemetery in West Point with full Masonic Graveside Rites. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife Mary Carole Brooks of Gattman; one daughter, Tracie Brand (Roger) of West Point; a step-daughter Cathy Reeves (Bill) of Sulligent, Ala.; two sons: Doyle E. Brooks, Jr. (Dana) of West Point, Glenn A. Brooks (Tina) of Macon; two step-sons: Alan Johnson (Kristie) of Guin, Ala., and Mark Johnson (Donna) of Wren; 12 grandchildren; one great grandson; two sisters: Dorothy Foster (David) of West Point and Martha Ann Gilmore. His sisters: Joyce Bramlett and Peggy Helmer predeceased him.
Pallbearerswere Dale Brand, Steven Brand, Cody DeNise, Garrett Brooks, Austin Johnson, Jake Johnson, Ryan Reeves, Brandon Johnson, and Brian Johnson.
Honorary pallbearers were Jay DeNise, Corey Brooks, Brad Johnson, Don Browning, The Men of Gattman First Baptist Church.
