Doris Pate Champion

Doris Pate Champion, age 77, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2011, at Dugan Memorial Home in West Point.
Doris Elba Champion was born Aug. 30, 1934, in Webster County to the late Edna Trull Pate and John Wesley Pate. Mrs. Champion worked in bookkeeping and customer Service for Renasant and earlier the Peoples Bank for 19 years. She was a member of Old Aberdeen Road Church of Christ Family. Doris Pate Champion married Bobby Joe Champion April 16, 1954, in the Irish Colony of Clay County.
Funeral services are Thursday, Nov. 17, 2011 at 10 a.m. at Calvert Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. J. C. Craig officiating, assisted by Mr. Les Pollard. Burial will follow in Memorial Garden Cemetery West Point. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include her husband, Bobby Joe Champion; one daughter, Linda Sullivan; one son, John Robert Champion (Pam) all of Pheba; five grandchildren: Wesley Champion, John Taylor Champion, Alana Champion, Ashley Sullivan Gentry and Justin Sullivan; two great- grandchildren: Eden Claire Gentry and John Paul Gentry; two sisters: Virginia Hill (Bobby) of Woodland, and Pat Austin (Garey) of Tuscumbia, Ala.; one brother, Donald Ray Pate of Houston. Those preceding her in death were her son, Joe Lee Champion in 1990, two brothers: Billy Nathan Pate, John David Pate,
and one sister, Ruth Edna Sanders.
Pallbearers are Allen Pate, Adam Chandler, Larry Pate, Jake Pollard, Mike Davis, and Les Pollard
Honorary pallbearers are her former co-workers at Renasant Bank, and The Old Aberdeen Road Church of Christ Family.
Memorials may be made to Palmer Home for Children, P.O. Box 746, Columbus, MS 39701 or to Pine Bluff Cemetery Fund, c/o Mrs. Betty NcNeel, 7999 Colony Road, Pheba, MS 39755.
Visitation is today, Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2011, from 5 - 8 p.m. at Calvert Funeral Home.
