Doris Bowen

Doris Bowen, age 84, passed away Monday, Oct. 10, 2011, in West Point.
Doris Bowen was born Sept. 30, 1927, to Lonnie “Lon” Brewer and Esther Wehrman Brewer in Aberdeen. She lived most of her life in Aberdeen and fifteen years in West Point. Mrs. Bowen graduated from Wren High School. She retired after 31 years as a switch board operator and receptionist at Bryan Foods and she also worked as a telephone operator. Mrs. Bowen was a member of Aberdeen First Baptist Church.
Funeral services are Thursday, Oct. 13, 2011, at 11 a. m., from the Tisdale-Lann Memorial Chapel in Aberdeen, with the Rev. R. D. Cline and Rev. Dale Funderburg officiating. Burial will follow in Oddfellows Rest Cemetery.
She is survived by, one son, Woodie Howard “Bud” Bowen, Jr., (Betty) of West Point; one sister, Laverne Pulliam of Una; three grandchildren: Melanie Brooke Bowen, Rodney McKnight and Ronald McKnight; four great- grandchildren: Briggs McKnight, Molly McKnight, Neely Claire McKnight, Harper Bowen Orman; and many nieces and nephews.
Doris Bowen was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Woodie Howard Bowen, Sr.; and two sisters: Nora Elaine McGee and Lottie Brewer Williams.
Pallbearers are Mark Hazzard, Manuel Orman, Calvin Adams, Jake Griggs, Jimmy Williams, and David Leon.
Honorary pallbearers are her co-workers of Bryan Foods, the Medical Staff of NMMC, Pioneer, Hospice Advantage and Dugan Nursing Home, Residents of Henry Clay Hotel and West Point Coaching Staff
Visitation is from 4 - 8 p.m. today, at the Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home in Aberdeen.
