Two weeks ago, the West Point Green Wave football team was celebrating their second consecutive state championship, after defeating Brookhaven 20-3.
A week after that, the team sent two representatives to the Mississippi-Alabama All-Star game, along with head coach Chris Chambless, who served as the team’s defensive coordinator.
Tomorrow, West Point will have further all-star representation on the football field, as seniors Vontarrius Dora and Jaquille White head to Ocean Springs to play in the North-South game.
The 191 pound senior White played the 2010 season as a starting defensive back for the Green Wave.
White was in on tackles all season for West Point, and he made a big interception in the team’s district win over New Hope earlier in the season. He was also responsible for a big safety against Provine in the playoffs.
Dora was in on 65 tackles throughout the season, 34 solo and 31 assisted stops.
He also had 10 sacks on the season as well. Dora also had a fumble recovery in the Green Wave’s 47-0 win over Ridgeland in the North Half championship game a few weeks ago.
The defensive lineman comes into the game at 240 pounds.
Tomorrow’s game will kick off at noon.
