A 'devastating' blow: State Reps fighting Drug Court cuts

State Representatives Tyrone Ellis and Karl Gibbs listen as Edward Houston, Director of the Clay County Misdemeanor Drug Court, explains how Drug Court's loss of state funding is hurting the program.

Clay County's Misdemeanor Drug Court team is doing everything it can to keep the Drug Court program in place, but a 100 percent cut in state funding is making that effort very, very difficult.
Monday afternoon, Mississippi State Representatives Tyrone Ellis and Karl Gibbs met with Edward Houston, Director of Clay County's Misdemeanor Drug Court, about the $75,000 in annual grant funds the local drug court will lose effective July 1.
