Thirty two women from West Point and Clay County were honored Saturday, March 26, by the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., in honor of Women’s History Month: Celebrating Women of Character, Courage and commitment. Women ranged from Central School student Honor Brown, who rallied her school to raise more than $3000 to help with a school in Flynt, Michigan during the water crisis to women who own their own business, are professional women, to those who have raised a family and continue to work hard in their churches and neighborhoods doing volunteer work. Women of all ages, colors and backgrounds gathered together to be honored for all they do by the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc,
“This was the first time we did this sort of community appreciation,” Reita Humphries, president of DSTS, said. “We had such a diverse group to participate, it was really wonderful. We received so much positive feedback from those who came to see their mothers, wives, sisters and daughters honored.”
