David Michael “Mike” Johns

David Michael “Mike” Johns, age 56, died Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2010, in Pontotoc, Miss. He was born Nov. 23, 1954, in Okolona, Miss., to Tommie Lee Johns and Lola Leopard. Mr. Johns lived most of his life in Okolona, Miss., and was currently living in Pontotoc, Miss. He was a member of Faith Outreach Church in Okolona, Miss. An outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating and skiing. In his younger years he participated in the rodeo and raised longhorn cattle. He worked in construction as a carpenter doing vinyl siding and recently worked on the Toyota plant. Mr. Johns was a craftsman at woodworking and enjoyed making things for family and friends. He was looking forward to the birth of his first grandchild, a granddaughter.
Funeral services are 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 2, 2010, at the Okolona Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors with Bro. Jimmy Bryan officiating. Burial will follow in Oddfellows Cemetery in Okolona, Miss. Visitation is 5 – 8 p.m. today, noon until service time Sunday at the Okolona Chapel.
He is survived by his wife, Regina Johns of Pontotoc, Miss.; son Jake Johns (Kendra) of Okolona, Miss.; his mother, Lola Leopard of Okolona, Miss.; a sister, Tanya Johns Dexter (Pete) of West Point, Miss.; three nieces: Tracey Holcombe, Jeana Whitacre and Melissa Dexter; and a great niece and a great nephew.
Pallbearers are Kebo Davis, Dalton Christian, Steven Colbert, Carroll Holman, Jack Gregory, Tank Nicholson, Shaw Robbins and Jerry Paepkey.
