Crews begin Captain D's work

April 1, 2014

Seafood lovers rejoice. The site for the new Captain D's on Highway 45 South in West Point is being prepared for construction to begin. The target opening for the restaurant is July, according to Keith McBrayer, one of the owners of the West Point Captain D's. Heavy equipment is rolling in and the property is being staked for clearing and construction.
“Our whole family is really excited that we are finally able to start preparing the site,” said McBrayer. “It has been a family project from the beginning. My brothers Steve and Chris along with our wives Nicole, Patty and Gay, our parents Richard and Nancy have been planning for this a long time. It's nice to know construction will start soon.”
The original opening was tentatively scheduled for the fall of 2013, but weather has been an issue keeping the project in the planning stages, McBrayer said. The restaurant should be ready for business in the summer, maybe July if the weather is cooperative, according to McBrayer.
Tabor Construction of Starkville has the contract to build the new Captain D's, said McBrayer. This Captain D's will have an updated modern look, completely different from the other Captain D's in the Golden Triangle, he said. McBrayer said he was pleased to have the restaurant more modern in its interior and exterior design. Other Captain D's in this area were built in the 1980s, and have not wavered from original design concepts. The West Point Captain D's will be distinctive for this area, McBrayer said.
