The Clay County Board of Supervisors has been working on the budget for the 2017-2018 fiscal year for several weeks, and the board will hold a public hearing at 9 a.m. on Sept.15 at the Clay County Courthouse. Supervisors are expected to considered proposed ad valorem tax revenue increase in the proposed budget.

For the next fiscal year, the proposed budget has total projected revenues for $10,829,390 with $5,828,615 of that to be financed through a total ad valorem tax levy. Clay County residents will be allowed to speak at the public hearing before any action is taken.

During yesterday morning’s board meeting, the Clay County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved the financial compilation proposal from J.E. Vance and Company for $13,500.

Chancery Clerk Amy Berry said J.E. Vance will format financial statements for the year end audit by the state auditor’s office in the format required by the Governmental Accounting Standards Board.

The county board will meet again at 9 a.m. on Thursday at the Clay County Courthouse.
