Coon Tattoo Hosts Disaster Relief Benefit

May 5, 2011

Coon Tattoo and Body Piercing of West Point is pitching in and helping out with disaster relief to families affected by last week's tornado by giving tattoos for a donation and offering music, food and fun for a great cause.
Coon Tattoo's disaster relief benefit is being held Saturday beginning at 10 a.m. at their location on Main Street. Anyone wishing to give to families through Coon Tattoos can get five tattoo designs for $20 each. People can choose from a cross, an Indian head, which represents Smithville schools, a candle, a memorial ribbon or a tornado with an X through it.
Area churches will be in front of Coon Tattoo this Saturday taking monetary donations and packing and distributing different items that tornado victims still need. Some of the main items needed are socks, children's underwear, toiletries, clothes and personal hygiene items. A trailer will also be in front of Coon Tattoo where people can bring building materials and used furniture to for the many residents who lost some of all of their home.
Not only will the Coon Tattoo fundraiser benefit tornado victims of the Montpelier tornado but it will also help families from Smithville, Killgor and Cumberland who are trying to recover from the disaster. 100 percent of the proceeds go to storm victims.
“We don't do it for us; we do it for the people,” said Robbie Koch, owner of Coon Tattoo. “We will open the event with prayer because nothing can be done without prayer. This is all to the glory of God. We are so hoping that many churches will come out Saturday and help us in relief efforts. If we pull together as a community, we will show that through unity and care the victims of the tornado will all get what they need and recover completely.”
Live music will be coming from Killjay, Koldera, Tisk Tisk, Fast Scarlett, Home Spun Sons, Seeking 7, Nash Creek, Hayden Allen, Alaun Comer, Michael Breedlove and Jake Wood.
Coon Tattoo is also lining up volunteers to assist families needing assistance. For more information on Saturday's fundraiser or to volunteer, call 662-494-8282.
