Many Mississippi State football fans possibly did not expect a 6-6 record coming during the 2013 football season.
Possibly these fans were still inebriated by the success of baseball Head Coach John Cohen and the Diamond Dogs finishing second place to the UCLA Bruins at the College World Series in June, or maybe the eight-win season in 2012 gave the Bulldog faithful a new outlook on life. Either way, not many State fans thought the Bulldogs would be fighting for bowl eligibility in the final two weeks of the regular season.
Despite a handful of disgruntled fans calling for the departure of Mississippi Stateâ€™s fifth-year Head Coach Dan Mullen, he, his staff and his football team delivered down the stretch with two huge overtime wins over the Arkansas Razorbacks (24-17) and the Ole Miss Rebels (17-10) â€” both in wild fashion.
