Carlton Clay has been nothing short of spectacular on the court since returning from the Thanksgiving break.
On Thursday night, he and the Eagles returned to their home court to take on Central Academy, and Clay put up 42 points against the Vikings, his second 40-plus point game of the week. He had previously scored 40 against Calhoun.
“He’s something special,” said Eagle head coach Greg Watkins. “When I get him to slow down and be patient, he’s hard to stop.”
The Eagles jumped out to a 16-11 lead after one quarter. They took that five-point lead into the second, where Clay and the offense exploded for 21 points, while holding the Vikings to a mere four points.
The Eagle second was enough to propel them to victory, as the out-scored the Vikings 26-23 in the second half.
Will Corbin Rogers and Chad Smith both finished the night with six points each.
The Eagles will be back on the court tonight, to take on Kemper Academy. The varsity game will start after the girls game at 6 p.m.
