Clarence Harrell, age 86, passed away Sunday, Aug. 29, 2010, at Dugan Memorial Home, West Point.
Clarence Harrell was born Oct. 2, 1923, in Grainger County Tenn., to the late Mettie Roberts and Wade Harrell. He was a statistician for The Union Carbide Company at the Atomic Energy Plant in Oakridge, Tenn., before moving to West Point in 1963, with T.V.A. where he was a Substation Operator. Mr. Harrell was a member of First United Methodist Church. He was past President of the United Methodist Men's Club, and President of Friendly Fellowship Sunday School Class, as well as having served on the board of Trustees and Stewards. Mr. Harrell was an avid guitarist and had taught private guitar lessons. Mr. Harrell was a Veteran of the United States. Navy having served during WW II.
Clarence Harrell married Barbara Kyte Harrell on December 24, 1949, in Knoxville, Tenn.
Funeral services were Monday, Aug. 30, 2010, at 2:30 p.m. from Calvert Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jeff Shannon officiating. Burial is today, at 2 p.m. at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Knoxville, Tenn.
Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Kyte Harrell of West Point; three daughters: Gloria Harrell Turner (Mark) of Starkville, Patty Hare (Michael) of Tupelo, Sandy Henley (Tommy) of West Point; four grandchildren: Christie Sims, Marc Weaver,Mark Turner Jr. and Leslie Scott; seven great grandchildren: Chris Garner, Alexis Weaver, Trista Weaver, Kaitlyn Weaver, Abby Scott, Sarah Scott, and Lauren Scott. Clarence Harrell was also predeceased by by ten brothers and sisters.
Honorary pallbearers were Mark Turner, Tommy Henley, Marc Weaver, Chris Garner, Michael Hare, Mark Turner, Jr., Alex Sims, and Stephen Scott.
