Civitans ready to help with EMCC new Workforce Training initiatives

November 21, 2013

By Donna Summerall

The West Point Civitan Luncheon Club launched one of its new implementations with naming Fifth Street Junior High instructor Pamela Bush Anderson as Civitan ‘Teacher of the Quarter.; Civitan and former teacher Bettye Swift presented Anderson with a plaque and a gift card to show the Civitan’s appreciation for educators and all they do in instructing young people.
The Civitan Club is setting up a scholarship fund to help people further their abilities to join the workforce with East Mississippi Community College’s Workforce Training Program. Swift invited representatives EMCC Workforce Specialist Mitzi Thompson and Adult Basic Education instructor Jim Bearden to inform club members on what is needed to prepare for the high-tech jobs looming on the horizon.
