Christmas in July set for July 18

Celebrate Christmas in July and support local businesses in West Point on from 1 until 6 p.m. on July 18.

Participants for the event include: Culin-Arts, Rose Drug, Lolligaggin, Deborah Mansfield Studio, Petal Pushers, West Point Jewelry, Bits n Pieces, Annabelle’s Antiques, This & That, Caldwell Fashions, Hair Is What It Is, Tee Shirts and More, The Glam Collection, The Green Leaf, Griggs Carquest, Jubilations and Flowers by Shirley.

Growth Alliance Director Lisa Klutts said all the participating business will have extended hours until 6 p.m., and each store will have discounts, sidewalk sales or door prizes.

She said some businesses will also have Christmas gifts and decorations for sale.

“July is typically the slowest time of year for most businesses because it’s hot and a lot of people are out of town on vacation,” Klutts said. “Christmas in July is a great way to promote local businesses, and its fun.”

Klutts said there will be Christmas music playing downtown, Mike Goree dressed as Santa in Bermuda shorts and a Hawaiian shirt from 3 until 6 p.m., and snow cones for sale by John Wesley Williamson in special edition West Point cups from noon until 6 p.m.

Klutts said this will be the first year West Point has had a Christmas in July celebration.

“This is event is something to get people out and shopping downtown,” she said. “It’s fun, festive and something different for West Point.”
