Charlie Mae Carter

Charlie Mae Carter, age 62, passed away Friday, Oct. 29, 2010, at North Mississippi Medical Center in West Point.
Funeral services are Saturday, Nov. 6, 2010, at 11 a.m. from Mt. Hermon M.B. Church, with the Rev. George Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Stronghill Stockholder's Cemetery.
Visitation is today, from 5 – 7 p.m. at Stronghill M.B. Church.
Charlie Mae Carter was born April 22, 1948, in West Point to Charlie Calhoune and Lee Alma Harris. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and joined Stronghill M.B. Church. Charlie Mae Carter was employed with the Clay County Community Day Care for 29 years and thereafter furthered her education by graduating Phi Theta Kappa from Mary Holmes College in 2003. She was employed with the West Point School District where she worked as a teachers assistant until her passing.
Her passion and favorite activity was attending church and participating in various church activities.
She is preceded in death by her parents: Johnnie and Lee Alma Harris and Charlie Calhoune; a daughter, Charlotte; and one brother.
She leaves behind a devoted husband of 43 years, Dewell Carter Sr.; three sons: Dewell Jr., Travis and Tavoris; two daughters: Vivian Tallie (Wayne) and Regina of West Point; a grandson whom she raised, James C. Walker; a stepson, Rachel Strong; 8 brothers; three sisters; four grandchildren: Jamel Banks, Ke`Shun Tallie, Jayden Sykes, and Tarlasia Carter; one great grandchild, Londyn Walker.
