Charles Virgil Johnson

Charles Virgil Johnson, age 88, of West Point passed away Wednesday Aug. 4, 2010, at his residence.
He was born Feb. 20, 1922, in Clay County to the late Lila Fulton and James Johnson. Mr. Johnson was a member and longtime deacon of Calvary Baptist Church. He worked for the USDA as a food inspector for many years and he was a Master Mason of the West Point Lodge 159. Mr. Johnson was a veteran having served in WWII and was a member of the VFW.
Funeral services are Friday Aug. 6, 2010, at 10 a.m. at Robinson Funeral Home Chapel with the Dr. James Towery officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Gardens Cemetery in West Point. Serving as pallbearers are Steven Johnson, Stephen Harpole, Henry Myers, Andy White, Jonathan Edwards, Tony Cates, Dewey Cox. Visitation will be today, from 6 - 8 p.m. at Robinson Funeral Home.
He is survived by his wife whom he married 65 years ago in Washington D.C. at Brooklyn Baptist Church, Josephine Southern Johnson of West Point; one son, Charles Alan Johnson of West Point; one daughter, Joann Johnson of Meridian; 2 grandchildren: Danah Susan Harpole, Alan Steven Johnson; and four great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to a charity of donors choice.
