Central proves too much for Hebron

August 7, 2014

PHEBA — Central Academy defeated Hebron Christian, 20-7, in the MAIS District 3-A opener for both teams Tuesday at Hebron Christian School in Pheba.
“Your season is based on how you fare in district play. We wanted to come away from tonight with a win, and we did that,” Central Head Coach Sammy Lindsey said. “Hebron has a good ball team, and we are happy to go home with the win.”
The Lady Vikings (5-2; 0-1 District 3-A) looked like a team on a mission, plating three runs in the first inning and adding five more in the second for an 8-run advantage. Three more runs in the third gave Central a commanding 11-0 lead.
Hebron (4-5; 0-1 District 3-A), however, extended the game in the bottom of third with five runs by Brooke Griffin, Victoria Ferguson, Mary Felder, Abi Boutwell and Madison Thompson, helping the Lady Eagles avoid the 10-run rule.
Despite the comeback effort, the Lady Vikings outscored Hebron 9-2 in the final two innings of the game.
