The Clay County Detention Center’s inmate roster goes online today, completing www.claysheriffms.org and providing easier access to the public.
Clay County Sheriff’s Department Records Administrator Patty Goff said the inmate roster will include the inmate’s name, charge, bond and mugshot, as well as a list of which inmates have been recently released.
“If somebody is brought in at midnight and released at 1 a.m., they’re not going to be on the inmate roster,” Goff said. “But you can click on the releases tab and it will show who was in jail in that 24-hour period.”
She said the inmate roster portion of the website is organized by the jail management system, while she handles the other areas of the site. More county sheriff’s departments are going online, either through websites or social media, in the interest of keeping the public informed, according to Goff.
“It’s something the public really wants,” she said. “It keeps residents from having to call the department or the detention center if you have an interest in who’s in jail.”
Clay County Sheriff Eddie Scott said CCSD has worked on claysheriffms.org for the past year, and the inmate roster is the final phase of the project.
“The goal is to inform the community,” Scott said. “We can connect with the public better with this site, and the public can connect with us.”
