Community Counseling Services will not hold its yard sale, initially scheduled for Friday in the Pass It On parking lot in West Point.
According to Martha Allen Wooten, CCS marketing coordinator, the organization and its participating clients elected to, instead, concentrate efforts toward disaster relief in the Louisville community.
“Our staff and clients have chosen to celebrate ‘May is Mental Health Month’ by donating all items collected to those who have lost everything in Louisville,” Wooten said in a statement issued to media Wednesday. “I am so proud to be part of this decision.”
Wooten said CCS would be taking groups of clients to Louisville in the coming days to visit Winston County CCS programs and deliver donated goods.
CCS will also set up a mobile unit within the community to address residents’ psychological needs in the wake of disaster, Wooten said. Services are free to those in affected areas.
