Allen turns over ownership to Georgia couple; local staff to remain in place

A long-standing West Point business is shifting ownership for the third time since its inception in 1906. Heather and Andrew Lawrence of Georgia recently purchased Calvert Funeral Home located at 1400 E. Main St. in West Point from long-time owner Scotty Allen.
Allen said his parents, Lacy and Bonnie Allen, became affiliated with the funeral home in November 1955 and eventually purchased the establishment from the original owner, David R. Calvert, in 1962. And in the last 58 years, Allen said having worked side by side with his parents in the business before becoming professionally accredited and taking control of operations, has been quite an experience.
