The Bryan Public Library is hosting a free, adult financial seminar from 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. Friday, featuring Ryan Munson, financial adviser with Edward Jones in Columbus. Munson will provide basic financial planning information with his “Rules of the Road.”
“Friday, I'll be discussing the ‘10 Rules of the Road' for investing,” Munson said. “The rules will help those interested in financial planning to understand the basic concepts and strategies for preparing for the future.”
Munson wants to eliminate the pitfalls that can come from individuals searching for investment opportunities with no previous experience in working with finances. He said questions will be welcomed during the seminar.
“I teach life enrichment courses at the Mississippi University for Women in Columbus,” Munson said. “There is a need for clarification between stocks, bonds, mutual funds and 401Ks. ‘Rules of the Road' will help people decide what will work best for them in their financial situation.”
He said this isn't taught in high school. People need to know how to use the financial tools available to them to grow wealth for retirement, according to Munson. He said if the first seminar attracts a large crowd then more help with financial planning may follow.
