BREAKING: Clark takes Ward 3

May 22, 2013

Barring a challenge from Ward 3 incumbent Charles Collins, Jimmy Clark is the new representative for the ward, which was the only one that required a runoff after the May 7 municipal elections.
When the first electronic ballots were counted, Collins led Clark by 19 with a 312 to 291 count.
Clark’s strength proved to be in the absentee voting, where he garnered enough support to take the election by 52 votes.
“I am elated for this trust to be put in me,” Clark said after the win. “I feel that with a new mayor and a new board, the good days for West Point are ahead.”
With less than that in affidavits and challenge votes to be counted today at 11 a.m., Clark is the mathematical winner.
Clark’s victory is representative of an almost complete turnaround on the city board.
Keith McBrayer is the only returning member to the board, which has four new members, and the city has a new mayor in Robbie Robinson.
Rod Bobo chose not to run, and his seat was taken by Linda Hannah. William Binder took Ward 2 from Homer Cannon on May 7, and Gary Dedeaux won narrowly over Jasper Pittman.
