Brand new Bulldogs honored with send-off party

July 30, 2010

When she stood up to introduce herself as a new Mississippi State student on Monday night, Oak Hill Academy graduate Alex McClain had one request.
“I want to ring the cowbell,” McClain said.
With that, the Mississippi State students, alumni and staff in attendance cheered their approval, setting the tone for Tuesday night’s send-off party at Anthony’s in downtown West Point.
Held in conjunction with other send-offs throughout the state, Tuesday night’s gathering was hosted by the Clay County chapter of the Mississippi State Alumni Association.
The event was designed to honor freshmen from Clay County that will be entering Mississippi State this Fall.
Several Mississippi State representatives spoke at the event, as did Chuck Brister with the Clay County chapter of the MSUAA.
“We just want to wish you luck and congratulate you on joining what we feel is the best university in the state,” said Brister.
