Boulevard construction to begin Monday

February 6, 2014

The last checkbox on the list of requirements necessary to begin construction for Yokohama Boulevard has been filled. After the finalization of eminent domain land acquisition, citizens traveling on Highway 45 will notice crews laying the groundwork for the extensive construction project come Monday.
Robert Calvert, Calvert-Spradling Engineers president, said now that the extra land necessary for construction has been acquired, the beginnings of the $19 million Yokohama Boulevard are not far away.
“We’ve issued the work order,” Calvert said. “(Construction crews) will be working Monday.”
But since weather goes hand in hand with construction work, Calvert said the work done Monday will be heavily dependent on how wet or dry the terrain is. Calvert said construction crews will focus more on the construction of bridges and installation of box culverts if rainy weather persists through the week.
